HubSpot or Zoho CRM: Which CRM Platform Is Right for Your Business?

Disclosure. business4you is a HubSpot Platinum Partner. We have therefore based this comparison on publicly verifiable sources, listed at the end. We have also compared HubSpot and Creatio using the same approach.

HubSpot brings marketing, sales and service together in a single database. Zoho is a family of products in which Zoho CRM handles sales and connects to other Zoho products for marketing, service and administration.

Both cover sales comprehensively and include AI. HubSpot offers broader capabilities for marketing, content, service and reporting through to revenue. Zoho CRM supports sales all the way to invoicing and can be extensively tailored to your business even in lower-priced editions.

Zoho CRM is particularly effective at guiding employees through prescribed process steps. HubSpot makes it quicker to automate processes across marketing, sales and service, and can now build workflows from descriptions in everyday language.

In both systems, business teams can create fields, lists and simple workflows without IT support. User reviews generally rate HubSpot as easier to use, while Zoho CRM offers greater customisation within each licence tier.

On G2, HubSpot Sales Hub scores 8.7 out of 10 for ease of use, compared with 8.2 for Zoho CRM. OMR Reviews paints a similar picture: users praise Zoho’s customisability while also mentioning its initial complexity for newcomers.

Zoho reduces this barrier to entry with AI. Teams describe in their own words what they want to record, and Zoho creates the appropriate structure. HubSpot administrators can likewise customise fields, deal stages and views without coding. Its interface remains consistent across departments, making onboarding easier for new employees.

HubSpot extends its interface through App Cards and App Pages, React components that run within HubSpot and remain compatible with updates. Developer release 2026.09 introduces date-based API versioning, and HubSpot’s MCP server now also supports custom objects, campaigns and marketing emails.

Zoho CRM offers HTML and JavaScript widgets, Client Scripts for browser behaviour, server-side Deluge functions and its own MCP server through which external AI agents can access Zoho actions. Both platforms provide sandboxes in higher tiers: Zoho from Enterprise and HubSpot in Enterprise.

In 2026, both offer AI agents and tools for building custom agents. HubSpot uses large language models from external providers and agents that work across the entire customer relationship using a single data source. Zoho uses its own deliberately small language model for simple tasks, supplemented by external models.

HubSpot scores slightly higher on G2 and Capterra, while Zoho CRM has more reviews on Capterra. Overall, both perform well.

In G2’s direct comparison, HubSpot leads on quality of support, scoring 8.6 versus 7.6. Reviewers praise Zoho for its value for money and customisability.

For Swiss decision-makers, OMR Reviews is particularly informative because its reviews come from German-speaking markets. HubSpot has around seven times as many reviews and was named a Leader for Q3 2026 in categories including Sales Platforms, Lead Scoring and Customer Engagement Platform. Zoho CRM receives good ratings from a smaller but satisfied user base.

Technically, both can easily grow with a Swiss SME. Both require a single edition across the company; HubSpot has applied this to new customers since October 2026. What becomes more expensive as the business grows differs: for HubSpot, it is licences and credit usage; for Zoho, licences and edition limits.

An example: a sales team grows from twelve to 25 people, and two regional managers now need Enterprise territory management. With Zoho, all 25 licences increase from €23 to €40, raising annual costs from around €6,900 to €12,000. This remains well below HubSpot’s list price, but it is a step change that can be anticipated.

Both providers store European customers’ data in the EU. Neither offers data hosting in Switzerland by default.

With HubSpot, companies in Switzerland and other European countries are automatically assigned to the Frankfurt data centre when they sign up. No application or add-on is required. For AI features, the necessary data is shared with external model providers under contractual restrictions limiting its use to the specific task.

Zoho operates two European data centres, in Amsterdam and Dublin. The domain used to create the account is decisive: accounts on zoho.eu are hosted in Europe, while accounts on zoho.com are hosted in the US. Zoho selects the data centre during registration based on the country specified. Its own Zia LLM also runs in the European data centre. If an AI feature uses an external model, the relevant data is sent to that provider.

Zoho holds certifications for information security, privacy management and cloud privacy. Its business model does not rely on advertising, and customer data is not commercialised. HubSpot meets GDPR requirements and provides tools for consent, legal bases for each contact, and access and deletion requests. Meeting GDPR requirements will generally also cover the requirements of Switzerland’s revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP).

The same principle applies to both: compliance depends on the actual configuration, the legal basis for each processing activity and a well-designed deletion policy.

The best approach is to choose two or three specific use cases from your business and test them in both systems rather than comparing feature lists.

Our article “Digitizing marketing, sales and service:” explains how to derive a target operating model for these functions from your corporate strategy before selecting a system.
